Arepas is a dish from Venezuela. You can eat arepas at breakfast or lunch. They are delicious an so easy to prepare. A friend from Venezuela shared the recipe with me and now I'm sharing the recipe with you! I hope you like the recipe.


2 1/2 cups of warm water

2 cups of PAN corn flour ( the yellow package)

Salt to taste

1 shredded carrot

Cheese (I used Daiya)


Pour the warm water in the container or bowl, then add the salt and the PAN flour gradually. Also add the shredded carrot and salt.

Mix with your hands until you form a smooth dough. Let the dough rest for 5 or 10 minutes.

Separate the dough in small portions and with you hands shape it into a ball. Then in the center make a hole with your finger and add a little amount of cheese. Close the ball again and press the ball to form a little pancake or patty.

To cook pre heat your pancake grill at medium heat and add a little bit of avocado oil just a tiny amount and cook them for about 5 minutes each side or until golden.
